Roofs, no matter what kind, are built to last a long, long time. However, this does not mean that they are completely invulnerable, and even the highest-quality roofing materials will need to be replaced eventually. But how can you tell for sure just how much life is left in your current residential roofing system? TopTier Roofing shares a few signs.

Sign #1: Your Shingles Are Curling
Asphalt roofing shingles can curl in one of two ways: cupping and clawing. Cupping is when the edges of your shingles turn upward; cupping, on the other hand, is when the middle portion of your shingles starts to come up while the edges remain flat. Both are sure signs of an aging roof. When you notice that your shingles are beginning to curl, then you will probably need a roof replacement within one to five years.
Sign #2: Balding Shingles
The surface of your asphalt shingles is covered with tiny granules that help it repel the harshness of the sun. If you have a newly installed roof, and you see a bunch of granules in your gutters, it is not a cause for concern. Those are just extra. But if your roof is approaching its second decade, and you notice that your shingles are balding, then it is best to call in a roof repair and replacement company to do a proper assessment and tell you whether or not your roof should be replaced.
Sign #3: Your Roof Is Sagging
This is a sure sign that your roof needed to be replaced yesterday. A sagging roof is an indication of structural damage. Once a roof begins to sag, it will only get worse and more expensive to repair. If left alone, your roof can eventually cave in and cause major damage to your entire property and even injury or death to the occupants.
